The AllTrails Stewards Fund

A grassroots initiative to support trails

Stewardship is one of our core values at AllTrails. We believe everyone belongs outdoors, and that caring for trails matters just as much as exploring them. The AllTrails Stewards Fund is our commitment in action, getting funds directly into the hands of the people who work on trails every day.

Through an open application process, the fund supports projects that enhance, maintain, and restore our outdoor spaces. In its second year, the 2026 Stewards Fund is generously supported by a matching contribution from Expedia, more than doubling our impact for trail projects worldwide.

Applications for the 2026 AllTrails Stewards Fund are open May 19 – July 17, 2026.

About the fund

The fund is for trail projects that expand outdoor access and preserve outdoor spaces. We're looking to help projects with strong community support and strategies for long-term sustainability.

  • Trail resiliency & essential maintenance: tools in the ground, addressing erosion, restoring washed-out bridges, climate change resilience work, improving drainage, deferred maintenance, removal of invasive species, and other work that ensures long-term trail health
  • Trail experience: Improving the on-trail experience, including native plant restoration, improved interpretation or trail head signage, visitor amenities, etc...
  • Trail restoration & new trail builds: Restoring previously closed trails to public use or creation of new publicly accessible trails
